Program Overview

In partnership with MacEwan University, ECSD Dual Credit Program offers courses for students interested in pursuing a career in policing.

Students will explore the most current theories of criminology, investigative techniques, law, evidence collection and forensics. Students gain the knowledge and practical skills to build a career as a member of the police service.

Course Details

Semester I September 10, 2025 - January 7, 2026: PSSC 112 Policing in Canada

Students learn the principles, practice and philosophy of the Canadian judicial system with emphasis on the criminal trial process. A review of the structure of the Canadian court system, statute law, case law, and the civil court trial process are included.

Semester II February 4, 2026 - May 27, 2026: PSSC 121 Law and the Administration of Justice

Students learn the principles, practice and philosophy of the Canadian judicial system with emphasis on the criminal trial process. A review of the structure of the Canadian court system, statute law, case law, and the civil court trial process are included.

Admission Requirements: Enrolled concurrently or completed English 20-1 (50% min) or English 20-2 (65% min)

Location: St. Joseph Catholic High School, 10830 - 109 Street

Day/Time: Wednesdays 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

$39.00 Technology User Fee (Non-Refundable)
$71.00 Alternative Program Fee (Non-Refundable)
$90.00 Caution Fee (Refundable upon the return of textbooks/materials in good condition)

*ECSD reserves the right to cancel courses that do not meet minimum enrolment requirements.
