St. Eligius Catholic Collegiate: Get a Head Start in the Skilled Trades
St. Eligius Catholic Collegiate gives high school students the opportunity to begin apprenticeship-level training while still in school. Students can build hands-on skills, earn high school credits, and make progress toward apprenticeship certification in one of five skilled trades pathways.
Named for St. Eligius, the patron saint of metalworkers, the collegiate brings skilled trades programming together at four ECSD high schools.
How the Collegiate Program Works
Students take Career and Technology Studies (CTS) Apprenticeship courses that align with first-period in-class apprenticeship training. Through these courses, students gain hands-on experience while earning high school credits and making progress toward apprenticeship training.
Students also benefit from:
- Hands-on learning and practical training experiences
- Instruction from ECSD teachers who are certified journeypersons in their trade
- Experience with trade-specific tools, equipment, and safety practices
- Connections with post-secondary and industry partners
