Tipi Teachings

June 5 • Day 5 • nîyânan • ᓃᔮᓇᐣ

Follow the process of raising a tipi and learn about the values connected to each of its poles. More than a shelter, the tipi carries lessons shared across generations. Through narration in the Cree language, with English subtitles provided, viewers are invited to explore these teachings and their significance in everyday life. This video offers an opportunity to hear and celebrate the Cree language while gaining a deeper understanding of the cultural meaning and wisdom represented by the tipi.

The tipi serves as a place of shelter, warmth, and connection for family and community. Traditionally, it has functioned as both a practical home and an important gathering space. Lear how women are central to its origins and teachings.

This is just one day of learning. Visit the Virtual Calendar to explore more stories, traditions, and activities.
