Edmonton histories, from an Indigenous perspective, focus on the land and the land surrenders that took place in and around the city. Following the signing of Treaty 6, First Nations in the Edmonton area were pressured to cede and later surrender portions of their traditional lands, opening the area to settlement and shaping the development of the city we know today.
