February 2025 Message
It is hard to believe that February is already here! Once again, it is my pleasure to share examples of the truth, goodness, and beauty taking place within Edmonton Catholic Schools.
TRUTH. Education in Alberta is guided by the Alberta Education Assurance Framework. Within the framework is a process for continuous improvement through planning and results reporting. We provide assurance to the ECSD community by reporting on: i) student achievement results, ii) Alberta Education Assurance Survey results, and iii) our own ECSD Annual Survey results.
We have reported these results at the division-level within our online Assurance Dashboard, which can be found on ecsd.net/assurance-dashboard. This dashboard aligns various metrics with the four priorities established by the Board of Trustees for our 3-year Division Plan for Continuous Growth 2023-2026. The priorities are: Living our Faith, Learning Excellence, Organizational Excellence, and Embracing Diversity.
At the school-level, each school’s results are reported within its respective School Assurance Dashboard. To view your school’s results, visit the school website and click on the “About” tab. Then click on “School Assurance Dashboard” to see the school results, as well as the School Plan for Continuous Growth for the current school year.
These dashboards share the truth about ECSD’s performance and commitment to continuous improvement. They deliver assurance that we are fulfilling our mission, which is to provide a Catholic education that inspires students to learn and prepares them to live fully and to serve God in one another.
GOODNESS. Our Board of Trustees is pleased to share some of the goodness happening within ECSD through their annual Community of School Councils (COSC) event on March 11, 2025. This evening provides the opportunity for parents and guardians to register for two sessions from a number of sessions related to student learning. Sessions will cover a range of topics such as mental health, academics, navigating a digital world, and the work of school societies. Visit ecsd.net on February 7 to learn more about the sessions and to register. Registration will end at noon on March 3, however, individual sessions will be closed as they fill.
BEAUTY. We are thrilled that Edmonton Catholic Schools can celebrate a decade of being selected as one of Alberta’s Top Employers! The public boardroom at Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre now proudly houses ten beautiful crystal trophies as proof of ECSD’s commitment to its staff. Our collaborative culture empowers the entire ECSD community to create exceptional learning opportunities and environments for our students. February provides many opportunities to share kindness and caring as we celebrate events such as Valentine’s Day, Random Acts of Kindness Week, and Family Day. It is important during such times to give thanks to God for His infinite love. We are truly blessed to journey together as members of our amazing Christ-centred ECSD community.
