Putting Faith Into Action: Social Justice Report

June 18, 2025

Each year, the students and staff of Edmonton Catholic Schools embrace the call to create a more just and loving world through meaningful acts of social justice. These efforts, rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, reflect the heart of our Division’s mission and vision.

At the June 2025 Public Board Meeting, trustees received the 2024-2025 Social Justice Report, a powerful reflection of the many ways our schools and departments are living out their faith through action. The report highlights projects that help our communities better understand the foundational themes of Catholic Social Teaching:

  • Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • Call to Family, Community, and Participation
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Preferential Option for the Poor
  • The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
  • Solidarity
  • Care for God’s Creation

Throughout the year, ECSD schools engage in whole-school and classroom-based projects that deepen students’ understanding of Catholic Social Teaching while demonstrating compassion, responsibility, and servant leadership. These activities allow students to connect their good works to the values of our Catholic faith.
