Student exchange programs are a great way for high school students to learn how to communicate and collaborate with diverse cultures, learn more about international communities, and become active global citizens.
High School students in ECSD can apply to study abroad in France, Québec, Mexico, and Spain through the Alberta Education and Childcare student exchange programs.

Age Requirement
Students normally apply during their Grade 10 year to participate in the exchange in their Grade 11 year.
Language Requirement
Student participants must be studying French or Spanish and should ideally have completed the 20-level of their language, or equivalent, before they leave to study in their exchange destination.
Application Deadline
Applications must be received by Alberta Education and Childcare by:
- March 15, 2026 for Mexico and Québec
- April 15, 2026 for France and Spain.
