Provincial Achievement Tests Highlights

ECSD’s participation rates in all Grade 6 and 9 PAT subject areas remain among the highest in Alberta, with over 95% of eligible students writing the assessments.

Grade 6 Achievement:
Grade 6 students outperformed the province in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Social Studies at both the Acceptable Standard and the Standard of Excellence. This year marked the introduction of a new curriculum in English Language Arts and Mathematics, setting a new baseline for future growth.

Grade 9 Achievement:
Grade 9 students exceeded provincial averages in English Language Arts, French Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies at both standards. Knowledge and Employability (K&E) students also showed improvement, surpassing provincial results in several areas.

Continuous Improvement

Consistent with the implementation of new curriculum, the percentage of students meeting the Acceptable Standard in Grade 6 Mathematics is lower than in previous years. ECSD is responding with targeted professional development, enhanced classroom resources, and a new Division-wide Mathematics Framework.

“Our results reflect the dedication of our teachers in ensuring that all students have the best possible learning opportunities and experiences,” said Chief Superintendent Lynnette Anderson. “We are proud of these accomplishments and remain focused on supporting every learner as we implement new curriculum and continue to strengthen teaching and learning.”
