ECSD Trustees Re-elect Board Chair and Vice-Chair

The Edmonton Catholic School Division Board of Trustees held its annual Organizational Meeting on June 17, 2026. Trustees re-elected Sandra Palazzo, Trustee for Ward 72, as Board Chair, and Lisa Turchansky, Trustee for Ward 76, as Vice-Chair for the 2026–2027 school year.
Sandra Palazzo has served as Board Chair for the past six years. She brings more than 30 years of experience as an educator and administrator with Edmonton Catholic Schools and previously served as a Senior Manager with Alberta Education.
“I am deeply honoured to continue serving the students, families, and staff of Edmonton Catholic Schools as Board Chair,” said Palazzo. “We are committed to providing strong, responsive leadership as we ensure that our students are provided with a Catholic education that inspires them to learn and that prepares them to live fully and to serve God in one another.”
Lisa Turchansky was first elected as Trustee in 2017 and has served as Vice-Chair for the past six years. She is a graduate of Edmonton Catholic Schools and a parent of two graduates of the Division.
“It is a privilege to continue serving as Vice-Chair alongside Board Chair Palazzo,” said Turchansky. “We will continue to bring consistent leadership in service to the Board. This supports our shared commitment to students, families, and staff so that we can learn together, work together, and pray together as we answer the call to faith-filled life of service.”
The next Public Meeting of the Board is scheduled for September 23, 2026 in the Public Boardroom at Lumen Christi Catholic Education Centre.
