 A Joyful Celebration

Edmonton Catholic Schools (ECSD) welcomed guests to the grand opening and blessing of its newest high school in Heritage Valley, Father Michael McCaffery Catholic High School on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

The event took place on what would been Father McCaffery’s birthday, and featured a Liturgy of the Word led by Bishop David Motiuk, followed by remarks from Minister Dale Nally, Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, Trustee Lisa Turchansky, and Chief Superintendent Lynnette Anderson. Division Chaplain Father Julian Bilyj then blessed the school’s classrooms and learning spaces.

ECSD is grateful for the funding from the Alberta Government, which made this school possible. We are incredibly proud of this new school, which represents our vision for the future of Catholic education. It's a place where students will be inspired to live out their faith, pursue excellence, and embrace the diverse talents and opportunities around them.
