Living Our Faith Through Social Justice

June 17, 2026

Each year, students and staff across Edmonton Catholic Schools respond to the call to build a more just and compassionate world through meaningful acts of social justice. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, these efforts reflect the heart of our Division’s mission and commitment to living our faith.

At the June 17, 2026 Public Board Meeting, trustees received the Social Justice Report 2025-2026, highlighting the many ways our schools and departments continue to put faith into action. The report showcases projects that help students deepen their understanding of the foundational themes of Catholic Social Teaching:

  • Life and Dignity of the Human Person
  • Call to Family, Community, and Participation
  • Rights and Responsibilities
  • Preferential Option for the Poor and Vulnerable
  • The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers
  • Solidarity
  • Care for God’s Creation

Throughout the year, ECSD schools engage in both school-wide and classroom initiatives that connect students’ actions to their faith. From supporting local and global causes to caring for one another and the environment, these efforts reflect compassion, responsibility, and service to others.

The Social Justice Report captures the stories of our schools and departments as agents of change, demonstrating how students live out their Catholic identity with purpose and hope.
