The mission of the Intercultural Services is to bridge communication and build relationships between the educational partners: newcomer students, their parents and Edmonton Catholic Schools personnel in order to foster greater achievement for English Language Learners and better parental participation in the students’ learning process.
Intercultural Liaisons support newcomer students, their parents and Edmonton Catholic Schools personnel through Cultural Brokering, Information Sharing, Referrals, Intake and Orientation, Para-professional counselling and Interpretation and Translation. Our team speaks many languages including Amharic, Croatian, Filipino/Tagalog, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Tigrinya, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. We also have a pool of casual interpreters other than the languages listed. Parents of Edmonton Catholic Schools students can call 780-441-6060 for support.
