Supporting Indigenous Student Holistic Wellness in Edmonton Catholic Schools 

In providing holistic programming, using the medicine wheel teachings in assessing balance and health the department has created a new role focusing on innovative ways to increase multilevel supports to Indigenous students.  

Multilevel Supports 

  • Supporting schools with outreach to non-attenders
  • Supporting schools with complex issues facing Indigenous students 
  • Supporting schools seeking cultural resources and presentations
  • Delivering Professional Development for District staff
  • Facilitating restorative justice circles addressing bullying, physical altercations, racism, and verbal conflict. 

Available Wellness Sessions 

  • In-person Indigenous content for Wellness Sessions 
  • Virtual Wellness Sessions for Junior High sites on Wednesdays on Teams 12:00-1:00 PM accessible to all Division schools

  • Self Esteem/Personal affirmations
  • Communication Skills, Identity - Why is it important?
  • Youth Addictions
  • Setting Goals
  • Medicine Wheel for self-care
  • Digital Safety
  • Virtual Indigenous Wellness Parent Nights
