Scholarships can assist students in their pursuit of post-secondary studies
Edmonton Catholic Schools offers several bursaries, scholarships, awards, and trust funds. Applications for any of these scholarships listed below must be from students who are currently graduating from the Edmonton Catholic School Division in the same year of their application.
Frank Schneider Educational Trust Fund
Amount: $1,000
Description:
It is intended to assist the eligible children of Division employees.
Criteria:
To be eligible, the applicant must:
- Be a graduate of the Division
- Be enrolled in a post-secondary program with the intention of entering the field of education
- Indicate a need for financial assistance
Deadline: June 15
Application:
Submissions must be received by the Superintendent of Educational Planning.  The submission will include:
- A letter of interest and a completed application form
- Two letters of recommendation
- Documentation to indicate the criteria have been met

Selection:
The administrative committee shall select the recipient from among the applicants.
Presentation:
The award will be presented at the recipient's high school award ceremony.

Geraldine MacIntosh Memorial Bursary
Amount: $1,000
Description:
The award is to be presented annually to an English as a Second Language (ESL) student who is graduating from Grade 12 and entering any post-secondary institution the following academic year.
Criteria:
To be eligible, the applicant must:
 
- Be a graduate of the Division
- Has an academic average sufficient to gain entrance to a post-secondary institution
- Be a well-rounded student who has taken an active role in school community activities
- Show financial need
- Has landed immigrant status
- Received ESL assistance at any point in their education with the Division
 
Deadline: June 15
 
Application:
The application should be received by the Superintendent of Educational Planning.  The submission will include:
- A short essay (maximum of 400 words) briefly describing:- Future goals
- The impact the ESL program had in helping the student achieve his/her educational goals
- Financial need
- Community involvement
 
- Documentation to indicate that the student has met the criteria indicated
- Three letters of recommendation     
 
Selection:
The administrative committee shall select the recipient from among the applicants.
Presentation:
The award will be presented at the recipient's high school award ceremony.

Kay Krausert Award Fund
Amount: $500
Description:
The fund was established to provide a yearly scholarship to a Division Grade 12 Business Education student for further education at a recognized post-secondary education institution.
Criteria:
To be eligible, students must:
- Be a graduate of the Division
- Have majored in Business Education (CTS) with successful completion of three Grade 12 courses in the business/information processing components of CTS
- Demonstrate a strong service commitment while attending senior high school
- Be enrolled in a post-secondary institution for further education in the area of Business

In the News: 2021 Edmonton Catholic Schools Scholarship Winners
Archbishop MacDonald Catholic High School's Jennifer Huynh wins the University of Alberta's Schulich Leaders Award and the accompanying $80,000 scholarship. There are 100 Schulich awards distributed to 20 universities around Canada, including the University of Alberta, which chose Huynh as a recipient this year. The scholarships are designed to support students who are seeking post-secondary education in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).
