Rooted in Joy: Edmonton Catholic Schools 2026-2027 Division Theme

Each year, Edmonton Catholic Schools embraces a Division theme that provides a shared focus for our faith, learning, and collective work. The theme helps unite our schools and communities around a common reflection that guides the year ahead.
For the 2026-2027 school year, our theme is Rooted in Joy.
Inspired by Galatians 5.22, Rooted in Joy invites students, staff, and families to reflect on the joy that comes from a life grounded in God's love.

What Does Rooted in Joy Mean?
As a Catholic school division, we believe joy is more than a feeling. It is a fruit of the Spirit that grows through faith, learning, service, and community. Joy helps sustain us through celebrations and challenges alike, reminding us that God is present in every part of our journey.
This year's theme also reflects the important role Catholic education plays in creating the conditions for Optimal Learning. When students feel known, valued, and connected, they are more willing to take risks, persevere through challenges, and discover their God-given gifts. These daily experiences help grow the roots that allow joy to flourish.
Throughout the year, Edmonton Catholic Schools will explore what it means to be Rooted in Joy through faith formation, learning, service, and community building. We will share stories from across the Division that highlight the many ways joy takes root in our schools and in the lives of our students.
