For the past twelve years, Edmonton Catholic School Division (ECSD) has offered two calendars, a traditional 10-month calendar and a year-round calendar. We are seeking input from our community so we can understand the impact of the year-round calendar on students, families, and staff within the Division as we prepare for the 2024-2025 school year. There will be no changes for the 2023-24 school year.
Background
ECSD has three schools offering a year-round calendar to 1020 students from Kindergarten to Grade 9. These schools are:
- St. Alphonsus Catholic Elementary/Junior High School
- St. Catherine Catholic Elementary/Junior High School
- St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School
The remaining 93 schools offer the traditional 10-month calendar. The number of instructional days for students is exactly the same for both the year-round calendar and the traditional calendar.
Take the Survey
An online survey was sent to all ECSD families to provide their feedback on the year-round calendar. The survey closed on May 5, 2023.
On April 24, 2023, the following letters were sent to families at traditional 10-month and year-round calendar schools.
