Since 2018, Educational Planning has worked to improve school viability across the Edmonton Catholic School Division through the Walking Together Towards a Glorious Future (WTTGF) initiative.
WTTGF serves as an innovative guide to evaluate schools and program offerings within the Division and develop plans to:
- Balance Utilization
- Enhance Learning Environments
- Improve Operating Costs
- Develop a Continuum of Programs
What is Walking Together Towards a Glorious Future?
Through the lens of Walking Together Towards a Glorious Future (WTTGF), we work to improve school and program viability across the Division. This includes a School Viability Review and Viability Improvement Process.
School enrolments, utilizations, student residencies, infrastructure requirements, operational costs, and possibilities for consolidations are all considered. Based on this analysis, recommendations are developed, and a comprehensive engagement process is undertaken to support project approval. This engagement process varies depending on the recommendation.

School Viability Review
The School Viability Review occurs at the beginning of the calendar year. The review considers utilization/enrolment, program offerings, facility conditions, and operation and maintenance costs.
