Program Overview

In partnership with MacEwan University and Edmonton Police Service Youth Recruit Academy (YRA), ECSD Dual Credit Program is offering this unique opportunity where students accepted into the course will receive the content and knowledge offered through MacEwan along with the practical component by being immersed in the Youth Recruit Academy for a portion of the month.

Course Details

PSSC112 Policing in Canada

Students learn the principles, practice and philosophy of the Canadian judicial system with emphasis on the criminal trial process. A review of the structure of the Canadian court system, statute law, case law, and the civil court trial process are included.

Admission Requirements: Students must have successfully completed English 20

Upon admission into the dual credit course, you will receive information regarding the registration process for the Youth Recruit Academy.

Mandatory Meeting: July 2, 2025 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jasper Place High School (8950 163 St NW) for parents/guardians, and enrolled students.

Dual Credit Location: Archbishop O’Leary High School - 8760 132 Ave NW

Time: 8:15 a.m. – 1:23 p.m.

Days: July 3 – 4, July 14 – 18 (In class), July 21 – 22 (In class/ final exam)

Off Campus YRA Location: Edmonton Police Service (Northwest Branch) – 18440 127 St NW

Time: 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. 

Days: July 7 –11

Must be committed to attending all five full days, from 8:a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

$90.00 Caution Fee (Refundable upon the return of textbooks/materials in good condition)
