On Sunday night, during evening prayers at a Mosque in Quebec City, two shooters opened fire, killing six people and critically injuring five others.
This morning we remember the victims of this senseless act, the injured, and their many families and friends. Today we grieve with the people of Sainte-Foy and all Canadians.
Let us pray: Loving God, welcome the victims of the Quebec terror attack into your arms, and comfort all who grieve.
We pray for the injured and the fearful, and that terrorism may be overcome and violent hearts turned to paths of peace.
We pray for unity among faiths; for a greater appreciation and love of all humanity; for patience and perseverance; for calm in the midst of fear; for forgiveness and the grace to overcome adversity; for generosity of spirit; for hope in times of despair; and for light in times of darkness.
Gracious God, you are our comforter and our hope. Hear your people's prayers as they come before you. Strengthen us in this time of need. Inspire us to acts of charity and generosity and give us hope for a brighter tomorrow. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen.
