Chief Superintendent: Robert Martin
A Message from Chief Superintendent Robert Martin
I am truly honored and humbled to have been entrusted with the role of Superintendent of Edmonton Catholic Schools. Our Division is one that is known for excellence and innovation in an environment that brings our students and staff into daily encounters with the love of Christ. This is both our legacy and our future, and I am committed to ensuring that ECSD continues to be a place of Catholic educational excellence for the families of Edmonton.
In his book Educating for Life, renowned Catholic scholar Thomas Groome says that “It is a sacred privilege and an awesome responsibility to be an educator.” He goes on to share that “to be educator is to stand on holy ground – people’s lives.” I am grateful for the privilege of leading this exceptional Catholic educational community, and I commit to you that I will take great care with the holy ground that has been entrusted to me.
In my vocation to serve Catholic education, I am guided by 1 John 4:16: “So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them." This embodies the hope that I have for each member of our Edmonton Catholic Schools family. During their time with us, I want our students, families, and staff to know, believe, and live in God’s love each day so that they come to know themselves as His children.
