God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.
~ 1 John 4:16~
On September 22, 2014, Father Michael “Catfish” Mireau, our first Division Chaplain, made his final journey into the embrace of our Lord. Father Catfish was loved deeply by our students and staff because he was able to help everyone to see that Jesus plays an important role in our lives. He used modern cultural icons like Star Wars and Superman to teach that faith has a very relevant place in our modern times. He also used his journey to death to teach us that the knowledge that we are children of God, whom He loves deeply, will carry us through everything.
There are many ways in which our Division remembers and celebrates his legacy. Father Michael Mireau Catholic Elementary/Junior High School proudly bears his name, and even has Nemo as their mascot. Our Grade 8 students participate in the Father Michael Mireau Youth Faith Day each year to deepen and celebrate their faith.
As always, you can visit FatherCatfish.com to continue leaning about our faith from this great evangelist!
Father Mike’s legacy is that we all come to know the Good News that God is Love!
