Classes will either run in the morning or the afternoon for the entire quarter. Diploma exams will be written at the end of each quarter, onsite at Cardinal Collins Clareview.

Please note that if you require other courses in addition to the ones listed above, Cardinal Collins also offers a self-paced (Fresh Start) program.

If you require more information or would like to register, please contact our registrar, sabrina.moorghen@ecsd.net

How do quarterly classes work?

Students who register in an Ascension (quarterly) course will take that course over a shortened time period, about half a semester but for twice the scheduled time as a semester course. Please see timetable.

In other words, you can register for a quarterly class that runs from September to November in time for the November diploma writings but the class will run twice the length of time during the day - either all morning or all afternoon.

Who is eligible to register for an Ascension course?

Only students in Grade 13 and 14 (Continuing Students, ie 4th and 5th year HS students) who are upgrading or on the verge of credentialing may take an Ascension course. Students in Grades 10-12 are not eligible nor are adult students over the age of 20 as of September 1st of that year.

Is attendance required in an Ascension course?

Attendance is absolutely critical in a quarterly course. Missing classes can have a dramatic impact on the student's learning. It is not recommended that you take a course if you plan on working during the scheduled time in which you have the course.

Additionally, once the course has begun, students who have not attended during the first week and has not made contact with the school will be removed from the course to open up enrollment for others that may be interested in registering.

How do exams work with Ascension courses?

Most summative assessments will occur during scheduled class time. These are coordinated by your subject teacher.

Diploma writings occur in November, January, April, and June. They are provincially set and cannot be altered. Please be aware that if it is the second time you are taking a course that you will need to log into MyPass and pay the re-write fee in order to have your marks released to you.
