Program Information
Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS) is tailored for students who face challenges with behaviours in a regular classroom setting and need intensive, personalized programming to achieve success in their learning. The PBS program aims to understand the learner more deeply by analyzing their behaviours and adjusting strategies to meet their unique needs. The ultimate goal is to help students work towards independence across various school environments.
Students registered in the PBS program are supported in numerous ways which include:
- A holistic approach including intentional plans supported by our instructional coaches, teachers, occupational therapy team, speech and language team and emotional behavioural team members
- Intentional, ongoing collaboration between community school team members, CFDL team members, outside multidisciplinary team members (including supports funded through FSCD), the family and the student
- Individualized programs focus on building upon student interests and strengths as well as target areas of growth that are specifically connected to classroom engagement and regulation
