Program Information

The Pathways program creates a unique learning environment for students facing challenges that affect their academic progress and school attendance. It offers smaller class sizes, opportunities for mental health literacy, diverse learning experiences with embedded supports, and the development of social skills and social responsibility. The program's purpose is to provide a space and programming for students to re-engage in their learning.

Students registered in the Pathways program are supported in numerous ways which include:

  • A holistic approach including intentional plans supported by our instructional coaches, teachers, occupational therapy team, speech and language team and emotional behavioural team members
  • Intentional, ongoing collaboration between community school team members, CFDL team members, outside multidisciplinary team members (including supports funded through FSCD), the family and the student
  • Individualized programs focus on building upon student interests and strengths as well as target areas of growth that are specifically connected to communication and regulation
  • Increased support for students who may have large gaps in learning (sometimes due to previous non-attendance)
  • Developing schedules based on student’s needs, academic progress, and current mental health profile
