Feedback on the proposal was collected from November 23 to December 3, 2021. Information about the proposed boundaries was communicated to all K-9 families in ECSD and placed on the Division webpage and on the St. John XXIII webpage.

What we Heard

Based on the 98 responses received, the majority were in favour of opening the school as a K-7 to allow for growth within the attendance boundary and to reduce the transition for current junior high students attending St. John XXIII Catholic Elementary/Junior High School.

Common Themes from the Feedback:

  • I would really prefer that my child be allowed to finish Junior High at their current school rather than change to the new school.
  • I support the boundaries as currently drawn
  • Windermere South, beyond Hiller Road should be included
  • The school should open with a daycare
  • K-7 would be ideal as it allows for growth within the boundaries and accommodate the fast development within the region without having to affect current junior high students
  • Should allow other students from the Division if room permits.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide their feedback!

Based on the feedback received and the goals of our Division’s initiative “Walking Together Towards a Glorious Future”, the attendance boundaries were revised and the decision was made to open the school as a K-7 effective September 2022. (More information below)
