ECSD Annual Survey Results

Edmonton Catholic Schools is reporting exceptional results from the ECSD Annual Survey (formerly the ECSD Assurance Survey), which took place from December 5, 2022 to January 13, 2023.

The annual survey invites students in Grades 4-12, families, and staff to share their experiences with Edmonton Catholic Schools and is aligned with the Alberta Education Assurance Framework and the Division Plan for Continuous Growth. This year, we received more than 31,000 responses to our ECSD Annual Survey.

Overall, high rates of satisfaction and agreement were reported by students, families, and staff groups. Highlights include:

  • 95.8% of our parents and guardians report overall satisfaction with their child’s school and Edmonton Catholic Schools.
  • Our students (94.3%), staff (97.4%), and parents and guardians (96.4%) agree that we have a strong Catholic identity that supports student education.
  • 95.6% of our parents and guardians and 94.8% of our staff feel that we provide safe and caring learning environments to our students.
  • 95.2% of staff agreed that their school/department is a good place to work.

Our Division and schools use the results from the online survey to ensure that we are providing our students with the best possible Catholic educational experience.

“It is so important that we hear the voices of the students and families that we serve, as well as our staff so that we can always be certain that we are meeting their needs and providing the best possible opportunities for everyone to grow and flourish. We know that surveys take time to respond to in a thoughtful manner, and we want to offer our sincerest thanks to everyone who shared their opinions so that our Division can also grow and flourish,” said Board Chair Sandra Palazzo.

The results will be posted to our Division Assurance Dashboard on ecsd.net. In addition, individual school results have been shared with school administration and will be published on School Assurance Dashboards on individual school websites.

A similar survey is planned for the 2023-2024 school year.
