February 18, 2026

Edmonton Catholic Schools (ECSD) and AUPE Local 071, Chapter 013, representing cafeteria, custodial, maintenance, and warehouse employees, are pleased to announce the ratification of a new four-year collective agreement.

“Our AUPE staff members play an essential role in creating safe, welcoming, and wellfunctioning school environments for our students and staff. On behalf of the Board, I thank both bargaining teams for their respectful dialogue and shared commitment to reaching this agreement,” shared Board Chair Sandra Palazzo.

The previous agreement expired on August 31, 2024. A notice to bargain was received on May 31, 2024, and negotiations between the parties began on October 29, 2024. Following 14 days of bargaining, a Tentative Agreement was reached on January 23, 2026.

AUPE members voted in favour of the Tentative Agreement on February 7, 2026. The Board of Trustees accepted and ratified the agreement at its February 18, 2026 meeting.

The new collective agreement covers the period from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2028. It includes negotiated refinements to contract language to improve clarity and understanding, as well as monetary changes resulting in salary increases, benefit enhancements, and improvements to flexible spending accounts, family medical leave, and protective apparel and clothing allowances.

Negotiations were conducted in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation, with both parties making a concerted effort to understand each other’s perspectives and priorities.

Edmonton Catholic Schools thanks the members of both the AUPE and ECSD bargaining teams for their professionalism and commitment throughout the bargaining process and recognizes the important role these employees play in supporting safe, welcoming, and well-functioning school environments across the Division.
