For the past weeks, we have been journeying through the desert with Jesus.  He has now entered the city of Jerusalem, and is spending his final earthly moments readying himself for the tremendous sacrifice he will make for us.

As we prepare our own hearts to participate in the most sacred Triduum and the jubilant celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord, may you find great joy, hope, and peace in the great love that our God has given us through the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ!

The Ancient Meanings of The Easter Village

The Easter Vigil Mass is the longest Mass of the year: there is a bonfire, the Paschal candle, the Exultant, the dramatic contrast of candles in a dark church, nine different readings, and much more. In his latest Upfront with the Archbishop podcast, Archbishop Smith shares the ancient meanings of the Easter Vigil traditions. He also discusses the theology of Christ’s wounds, the “necessary sin of Adam”, and the connection between bees (yes, the bugs!) and Easter Vigil.
