Orange Shirt Day is a time to reflect on the legacy of residential schools and honour the survivors and the children who never got to go home. Observed annually on September 30, this date marks the time when many Indigenous children were taken from their families
and communities. As September 30 is now a federal statutory holiday, Edmonton Catholic Schools will commemorate Orange Shirt Day on Monday, September 29.
Families are encouraged to contact their child’s school for details on how the day will be recognized.
