St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School – Attendance Area and Programming Details

Updated: December 17, 2025

We are excited to share information about St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School, our newest high school opening in September 2026. Families will find details about the attendance area, grade levels for the first year, and programs available to students, including Advanced Placement and a Hockey Academy.

Edmonton Catholic Schools gathered community feedback on the proposed attendance area and programming through a November 2025 questionnaire. You can read the What We Heard Report.

Attendance Area

St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School is located at 11650 153 Ave NW, next to the Castle Downs YMCA, and will serve families who live between St. Albert Trail and 97 Street, from Yellowhead Trail to just north of Anthony Henday Drive. This area is the school’s attendance area, meaning families living within these boundaries are assigned to attend this high school.

Students currently enrolled at Archbishop O’Leary or St. Joseph Catholic High School will not be required to transfer to St. Carlo Acutis when it opens.

What We Heard - November Questionnaire

In advance of the opening of St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School, Edmonton Catholic Schools invited the community to provide feedback on the proposed attendance area map and programming for the new school. Our engagement questionnaire ran from November 4–18, 2025, and received nearly 300 responses:

  • 93% of respondents were parents or guardians with a child enrolled in ECSD.
  • Of those respondents, nearly three-quarters had students in Grades 7–10.

Key insights from the questionnaire included:

  • Strong support for the new school and the programs being proposed.
  • High interest in language programming, with French as a Second Language identified as a priority.
  • Athletics were popular, with Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming, Soccer, Football, and Golf mentioned most often.
  • Sports Medicine was one of the most requested programs, highlighted by 123 respondents.
  • Other areas of interest included Fitness, Graphics and Graphic Design, Robotics, and Music/Band.
  • Participants emphasized the importance of clear boundaries and feeder school patterns.

Some concerns were raised about the size of the proposed boundary, transportation challenges for families east of the area, and whether the new school would effectively reduce overcrowding at Archbishop O’Leary Catholic High School.
