Building and modernizing schools is an essential part of Edmonton Catholic Schools' commitment to meeting the needs of our growing community.
Each year, we collaborate with Alberta Education to submit a comprehensive Three-Year School Capital Plan. This plan outlines our building and modernization priorities, highlighting the specific needs of our community. The ECSD Board of Trustees reviews and approves this plan, which includes information on project rankings and the factors used to determine them.
Alberta Education reviews our Three-Year School Capital Plan and approves school projects as part of its annual budget.

School Projects Approved under Schools Now
Schools Now, also known as the School Construction Accelerator Program (SCAP), is a Government of Alberta initiative designed to address the need for more schools. The program allows approved school projects to move forward as soon as they are ready, rather than waiting for future budget cycles. This approach helps reduce delays, but the timing of construction still depends on factors such as site readiness and project progress.
