EMU Program Information

Edmonton Catholic Schools is excited to offer an innovative program designed to create positive learning experiences for children and parents outside of an Early Learning classroom. The EMU is a mobile early learning family program that offers a cozy and unique environment inside a 39 ft motor-home where parents and children can interact with Early Learning Facilitators and engage in learn through play experiences. The EMU provides family programming for children registered in our early learning programs.  

Program Highlights

  • Family program is designed for children and their families in 100 Voices and Half Day Kindergarten
  • Parents are required to attend and encouraged to interact with their children
  • Registration is for the entire session which is approximately six weeks in length 
  • Collaboration with Teachers, Facilitators and Multi-Disciplinary Team
  • Strategies created to promote speech, fine motor/gross motor and behavioural skills
  • Access to resources and additional programming
  • Facilitating play strategies for home
  • Opportunities for relationship building between families
  • A variety of play experiences to engage in:
    • Physical play (gross/fine motor)
    • Language play (reading, writing)
    • Exploratory play (sensory)
    • Constructive play (building, loose parts)
    • Fantasy play (imagination, dramatic play)
    • Social play (engaging with others)
    • Expressive play (art, music)
  • Programming includes discovery and meeting times (songs/stories)
  • Environment created in an early learning context 


Please Note: The EMU programs will not be running when severe weather warnings are in effect, or if the temperature drops to below -20┬░Celsius.
