Self-Paced Summer School Schedule

Fees - Per Course

Student (Under 20 years old as of September 1, 2016)

$60.00 Program & Material Fee (Non-Refundable)

$100.00 Textbook Rental Deposit (Refunded upon the return of textbook in satisfactory condition).


Adult Student (20 years of age or older on September 1, 2016)

$450.00 Program & Material Fee (Non-Refundable)

$100.00 Textbook Rental Deposit (Refunded upon the return of textbook in satisfactory condition).

Prerequisites Alberta Education regulations regarding prerequisite courses apply to summer school. These regulations specify that a student must have a pass standing (i.e. 50% or higher) in the prerequisite course in order to continue with the series. If you register for a course without prerequisite standing, you will be withdrawn from the course without a refund of the Program & Material Fees.

Atten dance must be regular and consistent in order to complete the course. Students must attend the first 5 days of July (4-10th) in order to finalize registration. If 50% of the course is completed, this requirement can be waived by the lead teacher. Please do not plan on taking holidays or on working full-time during summer school. Students are expected to hand in work on a regularly scheduled basis!

Diploma Exams & Schedules

All Diploma Exams for registered summer school students will be written at St. Cecilia (8830-132 Avenue). Please see note below. We are not a "walk in" writing centre. All students writing diploma exams MUST present an acceptable picture ID (Valid Drivers License or Valid Student ID Card).

The fee for rewriting a diploma exam is $26.25. Payment must be made to Alberta Education.

* Please note that all diploma exams will be written at St. Cecilia School (8830 132 AVE).  The exam writing location has been moved from Archbishop O’Leary to St. Cecilia due to renovations.   For all students registering to write diploma exams via Mypass, please use Write Centre 8404.


Withdrawals, Transfers & Cancellations


If you withdraw from a summer school course, all Program & Material Fees will be withheld and you will receive only the $100.00 Textbook Rental Deposit, if applicable, upon the return of textbook/ materials in satisfactory condition.

Course Changes/Transfers

There is an additional $20.00 processing fee per course for changing or transferring a course. This fee is charged each time a change or transfer is requested and takes place.  No course changes will be accepted after July 6, 2017.

Course Cancellations &/or Refunds

Alternative Education reserves the right to cancel any class where the minimum enrollment is not met. A full refund will be issued for any course cancelled by Alternative Education. 

All Program & Material Fees are Non-Refundable.

Only the Textbook Rental Deposit will be refunded upon the return of textbook/materials in satisfactory condition.

Inappropriate behavior or damage to school property will result in the immediate dismissal of the student. Refunds will not be issued.
