How To Register

Louis St. Laurent Student Registration Document 2019-2020

We welcome new registrations to our school. All resident students of Edmonton Catholic Schools are invited to register at our school because of the Fine Arts and IB programme. Non-Catholics and other non-resident students may enroll given the availability of resources.

After September 30th of each year, we register students who are already registered in an Edmonton Catholic School and have moved into our area and students new to Edmonton. For all other registrations we are happy to register your son or daughter for the following school year or in the case of High School in second semester.

We require a copy of the following documents:

  • Baptismal certificate (if applicable)
  • Birth certificate
  • Landed Immigrant certificate (if applicable)
  • Latest report card

International fee paying students register through International Services at One World...One Centre prior to registering at our school.

REGISTRATION DATES August 26, 27, 28, 2019

Registration for the 2019/2020 school year will take place in the Louis St. Laurent gym. 

  • SH students can register at any time between 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM and JH students between 8:30 AM - 11:30 AM and between 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on the following dates:

During these registration dates students will:

  • have student ID pictures taken
  • have school pictures taken (Please note: Picture Retakes will be on October 28th)
  • pick up textbooks from the Business Office
  • purchase bus passes (if necessary). We do not accept cheques as payment for bus passes.

Please note:

  • Locker information will be available through PowerSchool.
  • The General Office opens on August 19th, with office hours from 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM, but will be closed in the afternoon on August 23rd as office staff will be attending District meetings, and in the morning of August 29th as all staff will be attending the District School Opening Mass.

Registration Guidelines and Procedures

Edmonton Catholic Schools provides a Catholic education to resident students of the district, according to their educational requirements. Non-Catholics and other non-resident students may enroll at Edmonton Catholic Schools given the adequate availability of resources such as space and suitability of program. Contact individual schools for additional registration information.

Are you a resident of Edmonton Catholic Schools?

A resident student is a Catholic or has at least one parent who is a Catholic, or under the authority of the Child Welfare Act, has been placed in a foster home where the foster parent is a resident of Edmonton Catholic Schools. Also, a resident must reside within the corporate limits of the City of Edmonton, be six years of age or older on or before March 1 or 19 years of age or younger as of September 1 of the current school year. In the case of a kindergarten student, is 5 years of age or older on or before March 1 of the current school year.

Students who do not meet the above conditions are considered non-resident students and may enroll at Edmonton Catholic Schools given the adequate availability of resources as determined by the principal and school district.

In order to register your child in school, parents are required to complete the Student Registration Form. The form is available at your child’s school or it can be found on the District website, completed online, printed, and signed by the parent. Please bring a copy of the completed form, proof of your current address, proof of your child’s name, date of birth, and citizenship to the school where you are registering your child.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

The personal information collected on the Student Registration Form and any other personal information collected and maintained as part of a student’s record, will be used for registration purposes and to provide educational services to your child. Certain personal information will also be disclosed to Alberta Education to meet reporting requirements, and by agreement. This information is collected under the authority of the Alberta School Act, which mandates the programs and services offered by Edmonton Catholic Schools, and Section 33(c) of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. The information will be protected by the provision of Alberta's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. If you have any questions about the collection and use of this information, contact the Principal of your child’s school.
