On Saturday, March 3, ten St. Joe's students competed all day in the APEGA Science Olympics at the Shaw. One team of 5 was made up of our JFLA girls and the other team was made up of PSDL students. Both teams had fun and were challenged with problem solving activities. Both teams were awarded Silver, so second places!

Ms. Ayala and Mr. Paquin, Mr. Lyszczyk and Mrs. Koelmans are very proud of their teams for doing so well in a high-stress competition and for spending so much time after school preparing. Congratulations to the following students:

Maddy Kuziw-Ewasiuk

Dawn Wright

Vianney Gangan

PSDL:

Congratulations to Latricia Bucyk and Dakoeda Cormier whose CELL project was entered in the 'Safe Drinking Water Foundation's' Student Action on Canadian Water Attitudes Competition, and they won first prize in Canada! Nicely done girls!  The girls will receive science kits as prizes, and they won the school a water purifying/bottle filling station to be installed in the school.  They not only learned and demonstrated a huge amount regarding our drinking water, they held mini seminars for TA groups on the second floor.  As well a big Thank You to Dorothy and Sabbi, without whom CELL - project based inquiry learning in action - could not run.
