St. Joe's celebrates our 14th Annual International Languages and Culture Extravaganza -

"A Taste of St. Joe's!"

Working 12.png

It is a time to celebrate and embrace language and culture diversity through exhibits, ethnic food, traditional dress, performances and power point presentations.

In a nutshell, it is a "mini-heritage day" in our courtyard as students showcase their heritage.

It will take place on Monday, November 21, from 11:00 - 1:00.

Currently there are 24 countries and over 200 students participating.

As well, there is a wonderful range of performances from ethnic dancing to playing instruments. Thus far, there are 4 in total to enjoy.

Members of the International Languages and Culture Club will be selling food tickets during TA time on Monday, Nov. 14 and Thursday, November 17. Tickets will also be sold in the Courtyard at lunch commencing on Nov. 14.

Encourage your TAs to purchase tickets in advance to avoid the LONG line up on Nov. 21. The cost is $1.00 per ticket for one ethnic food sample. (Similar portions to what is served at Costco or Sobeys).

Food will be served from 11:00-12:00 and entertainment from 12:00-12:45. Therefore lunch begins earlier than our scheduled Monday lunch schedule. Bring your students down by 10:55.

Our proceeds have been going to the Lenten Project – Chalice. We have sponsored children from all eight countries: Chile, Ghana, Paraguay, Bangladesh, India, Haiti, Philippines and Ukraine. Please stop by the Religion Learning Floor, 3rd Floor North to read and look at the profiles of these wonderful children. We have also helped natural disaster stricken places such as Slave Lake, the Philippines and Fort McMurray.
