The opportunity of Aviation will consist of two courses, which will build knowledge in aviation, along with practical flight simulation and flying experiences, that are recognized through the Aviation Accreditation Board International under the academic programming of Mount Royal University. Students will develop their knowledge to achieve the Transport Canada requirements respecting navigation and aviation operations, along with Basic Meteorology to interpret weather information for pilots as supplied by Atmospheric Environment Services. Through a partnership with WestJet, students will learn about the pathway of aviation from experts in the field, along with experiencing on-site hanger visits at the Edmonton International Airport.
The courses will be offered at St. Joseph High School from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday.
Introduction to Aviation Navigation - September, 2018 - January, 2019
Introduction to Aviation Meteorology - February, 2019 - June, 2019
Each course will be recognized as 5 CTS Advanced credits from Alberta Education and 3 credit post-secondary credits from Mount Royal University under the Bissett School of Business, which leads towards an Aviation Diploma.
