Karsten Huth Christmas Classic

Karsten Huth Christmas Classic

The Karsten Huth Christmas Classic is an annual alumni tournament hosted by the St. Francis Xavier Lacrosse Academy student population. The games celebrate the life of Karsten Huth, a recent attendee of our academy who we lost on November 25th, 2015.

The tournament features Xavier Lacrosse, Vimy Ridge, FX Alumni, and friends of the academy, playing in honor of our friend who loved lacrosse dearly The event is always well-attended by the local school and lacrosse community.

The intention of the KHCC is to raise money for those organizations that were integral to Karsten and his family during his brave battle.

We intend to raise money in two primary ways: by selling tickets to the school and lacrosse community and by collecting items for a silent auction. The entirety of the proceeds of both these endeavours will be sent to the Ronald MacDonald House in Edmonton.

The organization we are supporting is the Ronald MacDonald House, an organization which acts as a home-away-from-home for families with critically ill or injured children seeking medical treatment in an Edmonton facility. Ronald McDonald Houses are independently owned and operated non-profit organizations. These facilities were important to Karsten and his family during his treatment at the local Stollery Hospital for Children and their work continues to be of critical importance.

The students are proud to host the Edmonton lacrosse community and are excited to contribute to the legacy of Karsten Huth and the charities they have chosen to champion.

“I am scared now and I could just hide but today is a day I still can have and even though my energy is low and my pain is high l am going to embrace today's opportunity.”
