The season of Advent culminates with a school wide celebration on the last day of classes. Our guest speaker this year was Sandra Talarico from Catholic Educational services; she is a religious education consultant and liaison with Newman Theological College. Along with a powerpoint students had time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas. They were congratulated for their generous contribution to the Sign of Hope campaign through their sale of candygrams, and for their donations to our school hamper drive.

We are looking forward to the religion residency from January 17 to 21. During this time grade 6 feeder school students will participate in a half day retreat at St. Mark, which will prepare them for grade 7.

Read a message from †Richard W. Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton.

Religious Studies

The purpose of the Religion Program is to assist young believers in nurturing their relationship with God in and through Jesus in the context of a "Spirit–filled community."
By using the faith summary of the Apostles’ Creed, this program allows young believers to participate with the Church in exploring the various dimensions of our relationships with God, Jesus and the community of the Holy Spirit.

Religion 7

The grade 7 Religion program is called Believe in Me. Part 1 of the Creed.

Religion 8

The grade 8 Religion program is called Stand by Me. Part 2 of the Creed.

Religion 9

The grade 9 program is called Be With Me. It evaluates our lifestyles and choices in light of the values revealed by Jesus’ life and teachings.

Religious Celebrations

During the school year, we hold several religious celebrations to observe the liturgical year. Our major celebrations are School Opening, Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day, Advent / Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Lent / Easter, and School Closing. In addition to these major celebrations, religion teachers have their own “in-class” religious activities throughout the year.

We will keep you informed as to the dates, times and places of our major celebrations, so that you may be able to join us on these occasions.
