Welcome Back – Administrator’s Message

The theme for Edmonton Catholic Schools this year is: “Rooted in Jesus . . . Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve”

In the words of our superintendent, Joan Carr, “The heart and soul of Catholic education is Jesus Christ. He proclaims the good news that God wills for us, the fullness of life.” She also said, “As we hear in Colossians 3:11, ‘Christ is all and in all.’ Catholic schools characterized by our belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior are indeed sacred spaces for learning: we say that when you enter our schools you are on holy ground and our responsibility of teaching is a sacred one.”

As Catholic leaders, we value and appreciate all of the members of the community we are in, especially this community of St. Leo. At the heart of all that we do is the commandment prescribed by Jesus to: “Love one another, as I have loved you.” (John 15:12)

It is our hope and desire that the children you have entrusted to us feel loved and cared for as they are inspired to be the best they can be. May your children experience God’s loving presence along their learning journey as we welcome them back to school. We are excited to be part of it!

School Logo

Our school logo is best explained in symbolic parts to represent the whole.

The Cross- reflects our Catholic faith and our Christ-centeredness, which celebrates Christ as our model.

The People- reflects our belief in celebrating diversity as can be seen in bodies young and old, big or small all working hand in hand as we share our gifts and talents.  We embrace and celebrate diversity and believe that it makes us stronger as a whole community.

The Sun- represents the ‘light’ that emanates because we work collaboratively and share our many God-given gifts and talents.   It is in celebrating our uniqueness that we bring light to all who enter our school.
