Maria Sava Polish Heritage

Awards and Scholarships


These scholarships and awards recognize the excellence of students from the Sw. Jan Pawel II

Polish Bilingual Program of Edmonton Catholic Schools and assist them in continuing

their education at the post-secondary level. The program was named in memory of Maria

Sava who was instrumental in establishing the bilingual program and taught at the school

for over 20 years.



    A total of $5,000 annually

  • Three scholarships (based on grade 12 marks)

  • Two awards ($1,000 each)



    Applicants must:

  • be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada

  • be a resident of Alberta

  • have taken all of grades 7, 8, and 9 at Sw. Jan Pawel II school

    The applicant must pursue post-secondary studies in any program of study.


    Students normally apply in the year they graduate from high school. If a student misses

    the deadline they may apply in a subsequent year. Students may not reapply for these

The Maria Sava Polish Heritage Awards and Scholarships were created by private

donations in memory of Maria Sava. The program is administered by Alberta

Scholarship Programs through the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Fund.
