A Brief Guide to Elementary reporting in PowerSchool

March 2020

Message from the Administration

We welcome March. The sun shines brighter as we continue to live and learn in our school community.  During this season of Lent, we renew our hearts and we reflect on what is really important in life.     Jesus, who died on the cross for us, calls us to be kind to each other and to do the best we can with the gifts we have been given.  We, the students and staff alike, will all work especially hard to be kind, peaceful, life-giving people in our school and at home.

We welcome you to join us at school this month for our many activities and especially our Demonstration of Learning on Wednesday, March 11th from 3:00 – 7:00pm.  Our children will be so proud to share their growth and success in learning with you. Please check your child's summary report and assignments before you come to Demo night. Thanks to Richard Seguin, all the parents and grandparents who helped with the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast.

I would like to especially thank Mrs. Kowalchyk,  Mr. Gagnon and Mrs. Kachuk for the wonderful job they did running the school during my illness. I would also like to thank all of you for your prayers. I am back to work, but on modified duties. When I’m not at school, Mrs. Kowalchyk will continue to be the acting principal and Mr. Gagnon the acting assistant principal.

We also like to say goodbye to Mrs. Pugh who has accepted a position of head secretary at the new school opening in the fall, Divine Mercy. She starts her new job on March 2, 2020. You will be greatly missed.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
 John 3:16-17

A Green STEM Focus School

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. For a number of years, we have been focusing on caring for God's creation and following the words of Pope Frances in his encyclical "Laudato Si".  Now that we have been approved as an academy, we will continue to learn about taking care of our environment as well as improving our higher level thinking skills by introducing a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  We will, of course, continue to offer a strong reading program as well as art, music and dance.

St. Richard is a  small, family-oriented school with a caring and inclusive environment that provides an academic program for students in 100 Voices through to Grade Six. Our highly motivated and dedicated staff are committed to nurturing the personal and academic growth of each student - growing and learning to his or her potential. St. Richard is a Christ-centered learning community fostering leadership and service to others. We have a spiritual partnership with our parish.   Parents are recognized as a child's first teacher and encouraged to become active participants in nurturing our students within a Catholic faith based environment.  At St. Richard's, parents are accepted, respected, and valued!
