Below is a valuable resource for parents in supporting their learning needs to keep up with their children – it is a great digital citizenship tool.

The general and Catholic 2014-2015 Curriculum Handbooks for Parents, Curriculum Summaries for Kindergarten to Grade 9 and senior high school and the Curriculum Express for Parents for Kindergarten to Grade 3 are now available in both digital and print format.  The general versions of the handbooks and summaries are produced in both English and French.  I trust you will find them to be a valuable source of information for the next school year.
The Curriculum Handbooks for Parents offer in-depth information about what students are expected to learn at each grade level of the curriculum; the Curriculum Summaries provide concise, grade-at-a-glance information; and the Curriculum Express for Parents gives a short explanation of the curriculum for parents who are English language learners.
The handbooks, summaries and Curriculum Express are available in English on the Education website at www.education.alberta.ca/parents/resources/handbook.aspx , and the general version of the handbooks and summaries is available in French at www.education.alberta.ca/francais/parents/resources/handbook.aspx .  They may be downloaded for viewing and printing as required.

Information to Parents and Guardians

Regarding the Permeation of the Catholic Faith in Edmonton Catholic Schools

As a result of Bill 44, The Alberta Human Rights Act requires all schools in the province of Alberta to give notice to a parent or guardian when courses of study, educational programs, institutional materials, instruction or exercises include subject matter that deals primarily and explicitly with religion.

The essential purpose of Edmonton Catholic Schools is to fully permeate Catholic theology, philosophy, practices and beliefs, the principles of the Gospel and teachings of the Catholic Church, in all aspects of school life, including in the curriculum of every subject taught, both in and outside of formal religion classes, celebrations and exercises. Every course of study and education program, all institutional materials, instruction and exercises will at all times include subject matter that deals primarily and explicitly with religion.
