February 2020

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that January is behind us and we are now beginning the second half of the 2019-20 school year. We have accomplished much in the past five months and we still have a lot of learning and school activities planned between now and the end of June. February is a month dedicated to love, kindness and caring. As such, we reflect upon Matthew 22:37-39 and focus on loving our neighbours as ourselves. Our neighbours are all persons everywhere, not just in our community, and not just our friends. Let us show kindness and love within our school community and throughout our world each and every day.

Many thanks to Selene and Andy Posteraro for once again building our outdoor rink. Our entire community is grateful to Selene and Andy for this wonderful contribution to the neighbourhood.

Please note the following:

· Our Division Faith Development Day is on Tuesday, February 4th, and there will be no school for students on that day.

· Family Day Holiday is Monday, February 17th.

· Teachers’ Convention is February 27th and 28th. and there will be no school for students on those two days.

· The Accountability Pillar survey is an Alberta Education initiative designed to ensure that we are equipping our students for success. These surveys are for parents, grades 4 – 9 students, and teachers. Parent surveys were mailed home on January 13th.

· Please mark your calendars for May 3, 2020, as we will be participating in Run Wild for the fourth year in a row! This is an excellent opportunity for us to engage and come together to make a positive contribution to our world. More information will follow in the coming weeks.

Wishing you all a wonderful month of February.

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind”. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others.”

Matthew 22:37-39
