June 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It was an extraordinary honor and privilege for the Sister Annata Brockman students and staff to get to know Sister Annata Brockman. Our time spent with her on Wednesdays in the chapel, at school celebrations, in the staffroom and at community gatherings gave all of us the opportunity to get to know her; for this we are forever grateful. She changed our lives and inspired all of us to be better people through her actions and wisdom. She also made each and every one of us feel unique and special. She graced our history and for those of us who knew her, she graced our lives. Sister Annata's essence is woven into the tapestry of our school community and the greater Edmonton Catholic community; her legacy will live on for future generations.

As we begin the final month of the school year, we reflect upon the impact our dear Sister Annata had on each one of us. On that first day of the school year, she stood, where she had stood on the first day of every school year since 2010, at our front entrance greeting and welcoming our children and families. Her gentle words, her love, her warmth, her guidance and her wisdom is very much and will always be an inspiration to all of us. Although she is no longer with us physically, we are comforted in knowing that she is still with us in spirit. Let us all continue to live our lives with gratitude and humility, to love each other and to always honor our namesake.

We welcome the month of June! It's a time to look back and reflect on the accomplishments, successes and challenges that took place during the past school year. Our students have worked hard in their studies, athletic pursuits, fine arts, and many service and action initiatives. We are so proud of them!

June is also a time to say farewell to students, parents and staff who are leaving us. We wish you well as you embark on new adventures. On June 1st, our grade nine students will be celebrating a Farewell Mass at Good Shepherd Church. These students will be moving on to High School and we wish them the very best on their new journey.

As students prepare for final exams and assessments please assist your children to be prepared by getting a good night's sleep, eating healthy and arriving to school on time.  The PAT schedule, for our grade 6 and 9 students, is included in our newsletter and on our website. Many of our classes will be going on field trips and/or enjoying special activities within the school. Please take a moment to check the school calendar, newsletters and Friday updates for these important events.

Wishing our families a safe and relaxing summer! We'll see you back at school on September 5th, 2017.

Kind Regards,
