December 2018 / January 2019

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we move into Advent and the Christmas season, remember to take time to think about what is truly important and consider with gratitude, all that we have.  Let us continue to build bridges of forgiveness, peace, and harmony in our community and in the world.

Service and Action
This year, we are focused on three major Service and Action initiatives.

• Hockey Helps Kids
Our junior high students are raising funds in support of the Edmonton Autism Society.  Please stay tuned in January when we will be asking you to vote for us ‐ every day for a full month ‐ so that we can win $25,000.00 for the Edmonton Autism Society.  Many thanks to Mr. Fedoruk and our extraordinary junior high students and staff who are working so diligently to raise funds for this agency which is so near and dear to our hearts.

• St. Theresa of Calcutta Christmas Community Dinner
Under the capable leadership of Mrs. Muirhead, our grades 4‐6 teachers have fundraised more than $3,000.00 to purchase food and then will come together to make a Christmas dinner for the families of St. Theresa of Calcutta School on Thursday, December 13th.

• RunWild
This is the third year we are participating in RunWild, which offers an amazing opportunity for us to get involved in supporting the Zebra Child Protection Centre while participating in a run or a walk, on Sunday, May 5, 2019.  Our goal this year is to have 100% of our students and families participate in RunWild.  Stay tuned for more information.

These are our most intensive initiatives, however every student and every staff member in our school is involved in Service and Action...since giving to others is a big part of who we are.  Sister Annata’s spirit of Faith and Love in Action is alive and well in our school community!

We are looking forward to our K – 6 Christmas concert on December 12th at 6:30pm at the West Edmonton Christian Assembly 6315 – 199 St. Please make sure our children arrive by 6:00pm.  There will be more information to follow in the coming week.
