November 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to our parents, guardians, and guests who came to share their love of reading during Read-in-Week in October. Special thanks to Ms. Skowronski and Mrs. Teveniuk who coordinated all of our guests. Also, thank you to everyone who was involved in the planning and execution of Sister Annata's Memorial Mass. It was a beautiful celebration and we know that Sister Annata would be so proud of all of our students.

November is the time of year when we plan for our celebration of learning and official reporting on student progress to our parents/guardians. Please note the following changes to our assessment and reporting process:

Elementary Assessment and Reporting: ePortfolios

Rather than a formal report card in November, we invite you to view your child's ePortfolio on PowerSchool where we will have uploaded an item of evidence in reading, writing and math to share student learning. We look forward to ongoing communication with you throughout the year as we work together with your child to support their progress and success. A screen recording video which will guide you to your child's ePortfolio will be sent to you in the coming weeks.

Junior High Assessment and Reporting: PowerTeacherPro Gradebook

PowerSchool is similar to previous years where in you can view, in real-time, your child's progress in each of their classes. This year you will also see at least one key learner outcome attached to that assignment. Along with the numerical grade of the assignment, a teacher also assesses the connected learner outcome(s) chosen in terms of levels of achievement (beginning, approaching, proficient and exemplary).

If you have any questions regarding the new reporting process please do not hesitate to contact us. We will have our Demonstration of learning on November 30th and look forward to seeing you then.

Best wishes for a great November!

Let the peace of Christ control your hearts, the peace into which you were also called in one body. And be thankful.
