BDM Student Accommodations Engagement

bdm2-1.jpg

Edmonton Catholic Schools is engaging with families to understand the student accommodation needs of students at Bishop David Motiuk (BDM) Catholic Elementary/Junior High School. We recognize BDM is dealing with exceptional enrolment, and the current number of students is greater than what the school was built for. The school has exceeded the building footprint with modulars, and we are looking for alternative options to continue to allow the students of BDM to have access to a quality learning environment.

We are seeking input from our community on the best possible outcome to address the space constraints at Bishop David Motiuk Catholic Elementary/Junior High School.

November 2022

On November 23, 2022, ECSD held an in-person engagement with the families of BDM to present some temporary options that will alleviate the space constraints the school faces. ECSD is in the design phase of a new K to 9 school in Lewis Farms and when open, will accommodate the students in this growing neighbourhood.

The options presented on November 23, 2022, will bridge the time between September 2023 and when the new Lewis Farms school opens.

Engagement Survey

An Engagement Survey requesting feedback on the November 23, 2022 presentation can be found here. The survey is open for responses until the end of day on November 30, 2022.

Next Steps

It is important to know that even though we are exploring these options, no decisions have been made.

Decisions to address the space constraints will be forthcoming soon, as all details need to be in place before registration for the new school year begins in January. Our priority is our families and the education of our students. All decisions will be made with this in mind.
