Educational Planning Services



Superintendent: John Fiacco 

This diverse department incorporates teams of individuals in the areas of Educational Planning, Division Monitoring, and Transportation Services.

Our key areas of responsibility include: 

  • Student accommodation
  • Enrolment projections
  • Capital planning
  • Determine need for modular classrooms and preparation of plans for relocations
  • Identification of sites for alternative and special needs programs
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Innovation staff in support of new focus programs and to provide continued support to existing focus programs
  • Collaborate with Learning Support Innovation staff  to explore innovative and alternative educational programming (focus schools/magnet programs) in our division to ensure that we remain responsive to the needs and wants of our parents and students in regards to educational programs of choice
  • School closure and reopening
  • Prepare demographic reports that provide direction for future educational planning
  • Develop and review school boundaries and catchment areas
  • Liaison with the City of Edmonton, the province, neighboring school jurisdictions and other stakeholders in matters related to planning issues
  • Develop the division's Three Year Education Plan and Annual Education Results Report

Division Monitoring Services

Division Monitoring supports student learning and administrative decision making in the following ways:

  • Provide results, reports and analysis of satisfaction surveys, division exams, standardized tests, AISI exams and projects, provincial achievement tests, diploma exams, and regression analysis
  • Provide expertise in assessment of research proposals
  • Provide FOIP request responses within or under a 30 day time limit

Student Transportation Services

Provide students in our division with transportation services in a timely, safe, and effective manner.
