Facility Services
Superintendent: Dave Bouma
The Facilities Services Department consists of Facilities Planning, Maintenance, Custodial, Energy and Environmental, Project Design and Management, and Printing.
Departmental responsibilities include:
- Interfacing with Alberta Infrastructure on all matters pertaining to Edmonton Catholic Schools facilities
- Maintaining ongoing communication with all Division departments to ensure facility/program co-ordination
- Planning and selection of future school building/parks sites in new neighbourhoods
- Reviewing, rezoning and redistricting applications for potential impact on school/park sites
- Administrating the Joint Use Agreement in partnership with Edmonton Public Schools and the City of Edmonton
- Representing the division in regard to municipal and provincial infrastructure issues
- Managing land allocation and disposition
- Establishing standards for design, construction and maintenance of school facilities
- Establishing standards for area, capacity and utilization of school facilities
- Co-ordinating rentals in school facilities by community users
- Administrating lease of surplus space in operational and non-operational schools
- Planning, scheduling, designing, estimating, contract administration, budget management, implementation, supervision, and commissioning of all new construction, major and minor modernizations, portable relocations, and the Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP)
- Ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations to maintain the highest possible level of safety for students, staff, and public within our school facilities
- Developing the Division's Three Year Capital Plan & Ten Year Facility Plan
- Maintaining permanent records of all division facilities including changes to the physical plant
- Providing students and staff with a clean, safe, and healthy environment through effective supervision, education and establishing standards for custodial staff
- Maintaining all division buildings and grounds through preventative maintenance programs and ongoing day to day repair
- Providing utilities (power, gas, water and sewage)
- Managing energy awareness and implementation of energy management measures to reduce utilities consumption
- Recycling and effective environmental practices programs
- Facilitating school site greening projects and advising on playground development
- Operating an efficient, modern and high-quality print shop with the following capabilities: photocopying, offset printing with four-color, laminating, die-cutting and bindery
