First elected in 2010, as a Trustee she has taken on various responsibilities over the years, including serving as Board Chair and Vice Chair.  In addition, Laura has participated on a number of internal and external Board committees, including the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association, Board of Directors and the Newman Theological College Senate. She currently serves as the Board’s representative on the Council of Elders and the Board’s alternate representative on the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) Board of Directors, and the Unifor and Alberta Union of Public Employees (AUPE) Negotiating Committees.

As a longtime volunteer in the Karhiio and Sspomitapi communities, Laura has spent time with many organizations in a number of capacities. Highlights from her community service include: community league member, Corpus Christi Catholic Women’s League; lector, Corpus Christi Parish; member, St. Theresa and Corpus Christi’s Family of Schools; and an active participant with the Millwoods President’s Council.  She has formed many meaningful partnerships with all levels of government and remains connected to the community through her work with Early Learning Coalitions, Interagency groups, and by volunteering with the Red Shoe Society and Ronald McDonald House.  She also writes a monthly column for the Millwood's Mosaic newspaper.

Since her election, Laura’s primary goal has been to focus on making informed decisions that lead to student success, while continuing to promote a positive future of living, learning, and serving God each and every day.
