Laura Thibert is currently serving her third term representing Ward 77. Laura was elected as trustee for Edmonton Catholic Schools in October 2010, was re-elected in October 2013, and in October 2017.
Laura is a Graduate from MacEwan University; Voluntary Sector Management and Non-Profit Agency Management. Laura is taking courses through Athabasca University towards a Leadership Certificate. She is also taking courses at Newman Theological College with a focus on Catholic Education including Catholic Schools Governance and Issues in Catholic Education.
As a Trustee for Edmonton Catholic Schools
Laura has served as Board Vice-Chair (2013-2014) and as the Board Chair (2016-2017, 2018-2019, 2019-2020).
Committees of the Board
Laura has served the Board on a variety of Committees and the Committee of the Whole including the Board Governance and Priorities Committee, and the Audit and Finance Committee. In her role as Vice-Chair Laura chaired the Board’s Governance and Priorities Committee.
Other internal committees Laura has served include: The Board Policy Development and Review Committee, the Board Development Committee, and the Board Public Engagement Committee.
Laura has been and is currently the Board’s representative on the District’s Alberta Teachers’ Association Negotiations Team.
Laura has served as the Board’s representative on the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association and as the Board’s Representative on the Alberta School Boards Association’s Zone 2/3. Laura is currently the Board’s alternate on Zone 2/3. Laura was elected to serve on the ASBA Zone 2/3 Second Language Caucus. She also represented the Board on the Senate of Newman Theological College for four years. Laura was recently selected by the Council of Elders as the Board’s representative.
