Laura was born and raised in Edmonton, where she attended Edmonton Catholic Schools. She currently lives in the Sspomitapi community with her husband and four children.
Laura holds a Management Degree in Voluntary Sector Management – Non-Profit Agency Management from Grant MacEwan and a Catholic School Trustee Certificate from Newman Theological College. She and her husband are owner/operators of a growing and successful facility solutions, repair and maintenance business serving Edmonton and beyond.
First elected in 2010, as a Trustee she has taken on various responsibilities over the years, including serving as Board Chair and Vice Chair. In addition, Laura has participated on a number of internal and external Board committees, including the Alberta Catholic School Trustees’ Association, Board of Directors and the Newman Theological College Senate. She currently serves as the Board’s representative on the Council of Elders and the Unifor Negotiating Committee.
As a longtime volunteer in the Karhiio and Sspomitapi communities, Laura has spent time with many organizations in a number of capacities. Highlights from her community service include: community league member, Corpus Christi Catholic Women’s League; lector, Corpus Christi Parish; member, St. Theresa and Corpus Christi’s Family of Schools; and an active participant with the Millwoods President’s Council. She has formed many meaningful partnerships with all levels of government and remains connected to the community through her work with Early Learning Coalitions, Interagency groups, and by volunteering with the Red Shoe Society and Ronald McDonald House. She also writes a monthly column for the Millwood's Mosaic newspaper.
Since her election, Laura’s primary goal has been to focus on making informed decisions that lead to student success, while continuing to promote a positive future of living, learning, and serving God each and every day.
