As our year-round schools prepare for their Spring Break next week and our regular calendar schools for the week after, I want to take a moment to say thanks to all of you for the generous and heart-felt work that you do in the service of our students, families, and each other. Your commitment is what makes Edmonton Catholic Schools such an exceptional Catholic educational community!
And thank you to the many staff who are working through spring break. May you enjoy some time away at a later date.
I would like to share some excerpts from John O'Donohue's A Blessing for One Who is Exhausted for those of you beginning your well-deserved break. Enjoy the Sabbath that is to be found in these upcoming days of rest and rejuvenation! Many blessings on the rest of this school year to everyone! There is nothing else to do now but rest And patiently learn to receive the self You have forsaken for the race of days.Take refuge in your senses, open upTo all the small miracles you rushed through.Become inclined to watch the way of rainWhen it falls slow and free.Draw alongside the silence of stoneUntil its calmness can claim you.Be excessively gentle with yourself.Gradually, you will return to yourself,Having learned a new respect for your heartAnd the joy that dwells far within slow time.
