Potential Bus Delays

Transportation Letter_January 2022.pdf

January 7, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you are aware, many of our contracted transportation carriers have experienced a bus driver shortage this school year. As a result, please be advised, there may be some service disruptions as we welcome students back to classes on January 10.

Our priorities remain that we ensure the safety of our students and that our families have access to timely updates via our Bus Delay Board and BusDelays App. We urge our families to continue to utilize these communication tools to keep informed about your child’s bus route. Please ensure a contingency plan is in place should significant service disruptions occur.

We are committed to working with our bus providers to ensure the best possible service for you and your children. We want families to know that we have worked diligently with our contracted carriers to resolve these issues and that our carriers have been actively recruiting drivers to fill the open positions. If you know anyone interested in driving for one of our contracted carriers, please visit our transportation web page.

For our students who take Edmonton Transit Services, ETS will permit the use of December bus passes until January 10 to allow for students who may not have had the opportunity to purchase their January bus passes due to the extended break to do so.

Thank you for your continued support, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work with our carriers to ensure we transport students safely to and from school during this time.
